Before Cailey started clinical hypnosis sessions with Levitate Wellness, she was caught up in a tornado of physical and mental health issues.
"I was overwhelmed by life in general," said Cailey.
Cailey, a wife and mom of five, was dealing with PMDD, chronic illness, severe asthma, unexplained food allergies, and stress in her family relationships. Her X-rays, blood draws and other tests came back clear. She tried counseling, but had little success.
"I've tried so much medicine with doctors," she explained. "I knew there was something emotionally unbalanced with me. I was willing to try anything holistic, anything spiritual."
When Cailey met Angie, she was ready to jump in. She had heard about Angie's own struggles with chronic illness and how hypnosis had profoundly helped her. Cailey said she was able to trust Angie because she could "relate to somebody like that who has been through pain."
Cailey explained that, before her hypnosis work started, Angie sat down with her to talk about the brain and how it works. She offered information about hypnosis techniques and provided a voice recording for Cailey to take home to prepare herself for regular sessions. Cailey said she felt well-informed about hypnosis from the beginning, and that during each session, she never lost consciousness or control of her body. She described being in a trance as a very relaxed feeling.
"Angie can tell right away if you are comfortable or if you're not, and she will never push you," said Cailey. "Angie always says, 'I'm just a guide here; if you're ready and willing to face these things, you will.'"
Cailey saw Angie every week for a time. As she saw success through hypnosis, she had appointments only twice a month. Now, she comes in occasionally for "maintenance" - extra support and help during times of trial or need.
Now that Cailey has "graduated" from regular hypnosis sessions, she says she is now experiencing a "whole different version of life." Her PMDD is gone, and any illness or asthma flare-ups are minor. Her relationships with her husband and kids have drastically improved.
"It feels like I cleared a messy or crowded room in my brain," she said. "I feel healthy. I feel balanced. I have my bad days, but it's never those low lows like before."
What changed for Cailey in those hypnosis sessions that has brought so much peace? Cailey said it all came down to identifying and working through unprocessed grief around the death of various family members. Hypnosis allowed her to release the grief and negativity without being pulled back into it or reliving it, she said.
"I was in a state of trauma, a victimized state," said Cailey. "I could tell in the sessions when I was letting it go. I feel like now I can stand up for things that I feel are important, and I can communicate better."
Cailey is now such a proponent of clinical hypnosis that she brought two of her children to Angie for a few sessions. Her kids, battling excessive fears and anxieties, found confidence and resilience through hypnosis.
"I feel like if you want healing and you're willing to work for it, you'll find it in obscure places, like hypnosis," said Cailey. "Just try to be open. Try to give your heart to it, because it's just investing in yourself."
